TAKING OFF ~ U.S. RELEASE 1-SHEET POSTER STYLE 'B' NSS# 71/210 ~ UNIVERSAL PICTURES ~ 1971
This RARE and STRIKING Style 'B' poster from the CULT-CLASSIC MILOS FORMAN comedy is in Very Good / Excellent condition. With original machine folds and two additional clean horizontal folds (one below the artwork and one below LINNEA HEACOCK's photo), there is light wear at the fold lines. The poster has been stored rolled since the 70s, greatly reducing the fold visiblilty and it will ship rolled. There are approx. 1/16" tears at the top left blue area and the left center red area with no paper loss; there is an approx. 1/16" or smaller tear in the center woman's right cheek with pinpoint paper loss; an approx. 1" fold-line tear at the right center (white edge) with no paper loss. Printed on glossy poster stock with vibrant, unfaded colors.
The exciting, vivid BACHA artwork presents a surrealistic vision of the film's 'pot-party' scene, showing the square middle-class adults laughing merrily while holding joints, with a circular photo of the film's runaway-teen LINNEA HEACOCK in the center.
Universal never could figure out how to successfully market this film in the US and may have imported this terrific, alternate STYLE 'B' poster art from the French poster, as the artist BACHA seems to have worked exclusively on French-Release posters.
Popular artist BACHA also designed the French-Release posters for Slaughterhouse-Five and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, among others.
The film stars LYNN CARLIN , BUCK HENRY , GEORGIA ENGEL, TONY HARVEY , AUDRA LINDLEY and PAUL BENEDICT . Directed by MILOS FORMAN
